Electrical Safety Program Development

What are the employer’s requirements associated with the arc flash hazard? Employers must meet five basic requirements:

1. Employees must be trained on electrical hazards including arc flash.

2. Employers must develop and implement an Electrical Safety Program with clearly defined responsibilities.

3. Employers must provide the appropriate levels of PPE including FR clothing where applicable.

4. An arc flash hazard analysis shall be conducted.

5. Arc Flash Hazard warning labels shall be installed on all electrical panels or equipment.
